About Me.
I have been an educator of adults and children for past 20 years. Most recently I have been working as a corporate training coordinator at Deployed Services, a contractor for the Department of Homeland Security. At DS, I have been responsible for improving our leadership trainings and delivering them both virtually and in person. In addition, I have been tasked with creating new and engaging learning content for all levels of the organization and all lines of business.
Before making the move into the corporate world, I was an instructional coach with Alaska’s Anchorage School district, which helped me acquire and expertise in end-to-end instructional design, data analysis, program management, e-learning, digital platforms, LMSs, curriculum implementation, professional development leadership, instructional research-based best practices, running data meetings, data-driven instruction skills, and being responsive to learners needs. All of these are skills that I can incorporate into any position. As an instructional coach/administrator at Muldoon Elementary School, I observed staff and provided constructive feedback, completed coaching cycles, facilitated professional development based on needs, ran data meetings, found tech resources and trained staff on them, managed our supplies lists, ran monthly learning tours, conducted mediation, managed the master schedule, and acted as the teacher-in-charge. More important however, was my focus on developing an environment in which team members discover true joy in what they do. One that cultivates the natural desire to learn, discover, and inspires the drive to succeed and lead. High stakes testing had been part of our yearly schedule and data dives for quite a while now. It often showed us important trends across subgroups or years and has helped make instructional decisions in buildings across the country. They do not, however, indicate how excited those kids and teachers are to learb or how often they dig deeper into a topic on their own time because of the spark lit by their teacher or PLC. It does not consider the unquantifiable factors that inspire a child and their teacher toward lifelong learning; Creating that is my passion! My time as an instructional coach allowed me to coach team members to not only improve in their areas of need, but to lead into their strengths. Finding what each individual excels at, showing them gifts they might not even know they had, has helped to build the leadership capacity in my organizations. I have been able to hand off the reins of PD to others, to have them lead their own PLCs and data-dives. Those colleagues are embracing the joy of learning and will naturally seek to improve and lead; there is no way others are not following in their footsteps. Excitement and success are contagious! Now that my husband has retired from the military, I look forward to setting down roots in St. Augustine and exploring what I can accomplish out of the traditional education setting. EDUCATION
